Crafting System Empty
PostSubject: Crafting System   Crafting System Icon_minitimeFri Apr 22, 2011 6:51 pm

As I've been playing FFXIV recently I've decided that the best thing about the game is the ability to Craft at the moment. So due to its rather realistic crafting system I've decided to implement it here. This being said there are several things that you need to take into consideration when you are crafting. This section is to make you understand how crafting works and how it'll be handled in this game, If you have any questions you can ask me or Li.

So whats this crafting System entail?

Well unlike almost every other crafting system which is just roll till you beat a DC ours is based off something a bit more advanced. I will explain the three things that you must watch to allow your crafting to be more successful.

Percentage Rate: All crafts start at 0% and must be raised up to a maximum of 100% upon which you will gain your item back. Now this can be raised by using any of the 3 commands below that I will get into after I explain these, this is also decided by if you fail or succeed.

Durability: This is the Durability, if this reaches 0 your craft will break and you will lose all the items involving it. The starting durability is decided by the quality of the items used when making the item you are currently making. The rate of decrease is decided by whether you succeed or fail, and what command you use to attempt that turn of Craft.

Quality: This is the Quality, the higher this is the better your chance of the item adding on special effects and being worth more when selling it, on the flip side the lower it is the less chance of it adding on special effects and it being worth more when selling it. This is only raised when you succeed a roll, and its quantity gained is decided by what of the three commands you used for that turn.

Commands? What are these Commands?

Now with that over and done with you are probably asking at this point what are these commands you are speaking of? Well that is simple, each turn of craft you have a choice between Standard Synth, Rapid Synth, or Bold Synth. Each one adding on to its specific specialty.

Standard Synthesis: This type of Synth is the standard way to synth items, when using this the synth raises both Percentage and Quality with a normal loss of Quality if you succeed or fail.
Succeeded Roll: 10 - 15%, 3 - 6 Quality, 2 - 4 Durability.
Failure Roll: 4 - 6%, 0 Quality, 10 - 13 Durability

Rapid Synthesis: This type of synth consists of doing things quickly and focusing on the Percentage. This doesn't raise Quality at all, but raises Percentage at a high rate and lowers durability pretty quickly as well. This is also harder to succeed at then Standard.
Succeeded Roll: 20 - 30%, 10 - 12 Durability
Failure Roll: 8 - 11%, 15 - 18 Durability

Bold Synthesis: This type of synth consists of doing things based on the quality of the item, focusing on Quality. This raises quality greatly at the cost of percentage and Durability. This is also the most trickiest as it can be a game breaker as well. Harder to succeed then Standard.
Succeeded Roll: 5 - 7%, 10 - 25 Quality, 10 - 15 Durability
Failure Roll: 1 - 3%, 0 Quality, 20 - 25 Durability

Alright, So now what does this all mean rolling wise?

Well thats easy, Crafting will require multiple rolls against a DC which is decided by the type of Synth you desire to do. As you Roll the multiple rolls the Quality/Percentage raises depending on what you did, while the Durability lowers depending on what you did. The higher above the DC the Roll is the better results you gain. The lower the roll against the DC is the worse results you gain. Its really simple once you get the hang of it, This is also effected by the level of the item your attempting to make VS the level of your synth. So be warned when trying to over do it by making a higher ranking item then you can.

Another thing you should watch out for is spaming choices in a row, Should you decide to spam a choice, for example choosing standard a certain number of times, Your chance of beating or making the Synth lowers, as your Dice Check begins going higher. So should you decide to try to take the easy way out do keep this in mind. There is no easy way out when it comes to crafting.

Augmentations to Weapons and Armor and Accessories

There are a few things that you might want to know when it comes to crafting and enhancing weaponry, armor, or Accessories. First off, Each item when crafted, depending on the quality of the item in question, will not only increase the price it sells for, but it'll also decide how many Augmentation slots that the item has in question, The higher the quality the higher the GM will allow for the Augmentation slots to go.

Secondly, the only way to Augment the item in question is through using Alchemy. You'll have to pay Saetum to alchemize it for you, or do it yourself but only if you have an alchemy skill. Let it be known if Saetum is paid its an automatic 100% with a quality of Payment/2. Thirdly you are able to increase your slots by paying a hefty sum to Muskarackish, or doing it yourself through blacksmith or armoring. There is however, a limit of how many augmentation slots you can have, and that is Quality*2/10, for example if you have 50 quality, you times it by 2, which equals 100, divided by 10, you get a total of 10 Augmentation slots.

Now, We will cover the basis of the format that it should be in on your sheet.

Name:
Description:
Effect:
Augmentation Slots:
Cost:

That is what it will look like when you first make your character. When you gain Augmentations you then put them in this format:

Name:
Description:
Effect:
Augmentation Slots:
Augmentation 1: -Augmentation-
Cost:

Then you just continue mentioning the Augmentations as they come about.
